To Vaccinate or Not?

This topic comes with mixed feelings. The pressure of the global situation on Covid-19, great uncertainties that follow, unsettled governmental issues on vaccines, stay at home policies, job deprivation and loss of income for many is just overwhelming at the moment. Whilst everyone is wishing to see the light at the end of the tunnel, it looks like we are burrowing further down to the earth instead. Some countries have successfully contained the spread of the virus within their community, at the price of their borders being closed, isolation and very tight immigration regulations.

You cannot blame these countries, as their main concern is the welfare of their citizens and also avoiding the overwhelming cost of damages incurred by many nations around the world. The business sectors, employees, employers and governments are having tremendous pressure to find avenues for recovery. The government bureaucracies are just overwhelming sometimes, but they do not have any preset modules to work on as well.

This pandemic becomes a trial-and-error method in the implementation of emergency-based regulations. It’s a first for many. Do take not that Covid-19, also known as SARS-CoV-2 is not something really new. The research on Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, or commonly known as SARS, goes way back in late 2002 when it was first discovered. This means, the rendering to current pandemic is not something new, but consequential events that took place over time. Unfortunately, the dependency on experts, who by themselves are facing indefinite conclusions to act on Covid-19, became really stressful globally.

A contradiction in the statement, firstly confuses the initiator.

When one expert says mask-on, the other says, there is no conclusive prove. Initially, it was non-contact, do not touch anything and sanitize yourself always. Then, it was contradicting statements saying the virus does not spread in such manner, but it is actually an airborne transmitted infection, thus keeping a distance more than one meter between people is highly recommended.

Even before this pandemic, when someone is having a bad flu and cough, when they sneeze around you, high chances are, that you can catch cold thereafter. The flu virus is quick to spread, and it does in the same manner; airborne and contact. If you relate to how flu infections take place, then you can also relate to Covid-19.

Most people go and get their summer and winter flu vaccines annually. This is to avoid severe allergies and to provide quicker recovery should they get infected. However, the drama created by Covid-19 anti-vaxxers is indeed impressive. You do have the right to be concerned, as it is your personal health and well-being. When the anti-vaxxers go overboard on the basis of religion, conspiracy theories and microchip implants, that is concerning indeed.

You see, if someone wants to implant nano-microchips via vaccines, they could have easily done that from your daily consumables, like a can of drink, for example. It is easier, repetitive and largely dissipated around the world. So, are you now going to stop buying packaged drinks and consumables that can easily be manipulated?

Vaccines are not something new. There will many more vaccines coming in the near future. The population is continuously increasing globally, whilst natural resources are dwindling, especially fresh water. There will be high possibilities of more diseases to come. Historically, in the past five decades, there was polio, measles, mumps, rubella, chickenpox, whooping cough, cholera, influenza, pneumonia, malaria and hepatitis vaccines. Covid-19, is just another disease, added to the list.

Vaccinate or to not vaccinate? A million-dollar question indeed. Do take note that by vaccinating, it does not mean that you will not get infected. Remember me explaining about flu vaccines. It is just the same. By getting your vaccines, it will help your antibodies to defend as much as it can, should you be infected with Covid-19.

It is hard to predict how will the reaction be for you, during your infection without this vaccine. For some of the people I came across, they had loss of taste and smell, body felt like they were run over by a truck and it took them nearly three months before they felt better.  For a few others, it was just feeling feverish, loss of taste and appetite, but within less than two weeks, they were all well and fine.

If someone had viral flu and fever, they could just recover within a week or a fortnight, whist others end up being hospitalized, with a severe infection in their lungs and having pneumonia or whooping cough symptoms. Just like the reactions with Covid-19 vaccines, for some, they have no symptoms at all and a very small percentage have severe reactions to it.

That is the reality of vaccines, not only for Covid-19. Any vaccine can react severely with you, for some reason. You may be someone with very strong natural antibodies, to which, when vaccine is introduced into your body, the reaction can vary from mild to severe. Again, it if you are someone with low antibodies, perhaps you have other known diseases that you are taking quite a lot of medications, your reaction to the vaccine can also vary from mild to severe.

The scientific communities are continuously doing their studies, taking empirical analysis, based on real-world data, metrics and results on Covid-19 cases and vaccines. Most studies take at least three to ten years, before very strong evidence can be established. If you are willing to wait, nobody should hold it against you for not taking your vaccine. It is your right. Your body’s well-being and the concerns are sufficiently valid. Depriving yourself from being vaccinated, puts you and your family in plausible risk. If you disagree, I am not arguing with you. As I said, it is your right.

Let’s see how the current situation turns around for the better. Should mass vaccines prove beneficial in some countries, whilst others still have not vaccinated a good percentage of their citizens, but have provided a safe environment as well, then there seem to be an act of balance taking place. We will only know, in many years to come, when scientific data and researches are made available for review. Until then, stay safe, stay healthy.

Get your facts right. Do not spread misinformation on something that you may not understand.
