I am going to touch a subject that is equally sensitive and concerning in current times. I want to address this before the end of my humanly life form, for what its worth.
The truth about racism is that it will not be eradicated from our society anytime soon or in the near future. It is simply because for thousands of years, it has been a torch bearer in so many continents and civilizations. The root of all racism comes simply from differentiating one another of their racial background; not religion, not culture and not their country of origin. It’s just simply their race.
If you live in a country like Malaysia for example, the level of tolerance between races is very high. Its indeed a blessing. The assimilation of cultures from one race to the other, brought forward favorable changes and adaptation between the races over hundreds of years. The largest migration of Chinese and Indians, mainly took place during the colonial era. However, history will validate that both races have been in Malaysia much longer than that.
In its ups and downs, the turmoil that took place on May 13, 1969 reminds all Malaysian how fragile race relationships can be and the sensitivities that will always surround it. The beauty about Malaysians is that they tend to forget the sour pasts and carry on with the current prospective future. Their tolerance, makes this country ever possible for anyone to always live in a peaceful and harmonious environment.
There will always be people to champion their race.
Their arrogance will not defeat them, but you can.

Truth be told, your perception of another race and any tangible bias comes from your elders when you were young. Prejudice, past experiences in any one of them or their forefathers crept into their thoughts and is carried forward to the next generation. You would probably be told to be cautious of another race, and it starts to melt into you as well.
Luckily, if you had the opportunity to mix around other races when in school, this barrier would probably break. However, peer pressure and friends of similar race will have a judgmental impact on you too. You either have to join them or beat them.
When you travel around the world, you will experience different level of racism. There are quite a lot of countries consist of mono ethnic society, where their society have very minimal contact with other races. Then there are countries rated to have multiculturalism too. In both, racism do exists. You will either experience subtle level of racism or in some occasions, extreme cases. My question is, will you not be travelling to any foreign country just because you fear that they will be racist towards you? You will still travel, right?
Fear of prejudice is also the cause of your setback. Racism is also with you, but you do not accentuate it. Only at a height of frustration, in a moment of anger, you may possibly blurt out a remark that you will be regretting later. What you have said at that moment, the damage is already done.
So, how do you overcome racism? It is not a difficult question until and when you are seeking an answer to this. There is no real solution to this. Countries around the world are beginning to suffer severe impact and damages caused by racism. The healing process for this will take a very long time, since continuous resentment will exist, from one generation to another.
Again, how can you overcome racism? See within yourself, how you would like others to treat you. Not by the color of your skin, not by your ethnicity or religion, not from your country of origin, not from upper or lower caste; just remind yourself and see your birth! You were born human, as the other person. The difference you see is like looking at the colors in the rainbow. They all do look somehow different, but if you look clearly, you only see the reflection of yourself in another human being.
When you see the difference, see the good values they bring to you, and exchange the same to them. In this manner, when you are hiring someone to work within your organization, you see them for who they are, the basic qualification, required skill base and the potential that they bring forth. If you can do this, then change will take place over the long run.
You either become a bigot or a friend to someone of another race.
This has been the unfortunate truth.

Change comes from one person. It is infectious and change can take place from one and another. You will need to weed out the minority who will still be jumping jacks, championing the cause of racism. Remember, a healthy majority can always move this world to be a better place for everyone to live in peace and harmony. You, by all means, make the first step within yourself. Change is imminent in every country. The world has become smaller as we are able to travel easily without hesitation.
Last but not least, stop being selfish and self-centered. No, it is not all about you. It is about everyone around you, whether you are an individual or a country. Make peace with yourself so that you can open the door in your life for others without prejudice and hatred. The strength of combined effort to succeed should overwhelm anyone or any country, to do good for others in return.
We do not need wars, blood baths, separation of countries by race and religion. What we need is a world that carries the natural accord that it has been given. Being human means staying in harmony and not otherwise. Why are you wasting your gifts to such great extend?
It is pointless to find a habitable place to live on another planet when humans cannot even keep this planet Earth hospitable. Why do they succumb so low?
With exception to Stephen Hawking theorizing that the earth will be inhabitable in another 100 years or turning into a giant red ball of fire by the year 2600, I have faith that we can be better human and this planet will provide salvation if we do so. What happens in the universe is beyond your absolute control, but where you exist can be a better place to live in, if you make the right choices. If you are not so determined to destroy this planet with poor values that you have falsely embedded within yourself and propagating to others as well, we all can make a difference.
These questions I am asking here is for you to ask yourself too. If you realize that the answer to all these is to do away with the past and to live for a better future, I am with you throughout this wonderful journey.
Remember this. All Lives Matter.
