It is so obvious. The Covid-19 pandemic did not just become a global pandemic, but the actuality is the selfishness of many governments who had politicized it at great length. After UK decided to break away from the EU, it became a bad divorce case with both parties venting at each other.
The EU and its member countries became so sore, that they were behaving like the wife of a flamboyant millionaire. The intent was to scrape everything possible, claiming millions under the settlement for maintaining daily lifestyle and consumption, whilst viciously finding all possibilities to bring down the husband and his business. The husband is no better.
Ironically, the mistake UK made was to be part of the EU. They are British, not Europeans. Historically, being part of colonial countries, they have equally sailed thousands of miles, being the tailenders of the European colonization. It normally started off by the Portuguese, followed thereafter by the Dutch. The final pace to colonial conquering was done by the British, where rampant grabbing of wealth and resources took place at the expense of the locals.
The sour plum left by their departures was felt by most countries. At some point of time, British had colonized more than 170 countries around the world. It was an undeniable truth, that they were a real time conqueror during their heydays, where they had upper hands in most of the things that you know of today.
Now don’t forget the French. They went all the way to the Americas and Africa, even some parts of South East Asia too. Each and every one of the colonial countries of the past had not woken up from a clearly unforgiving attitude, which is ‘the need to take control at any expense’. It was indeed a behavior that was very prevalent during this Covid-19 pandemic.
Instead of coming together for the well-being to resolve the global health issue, they began to be vindictive. The suppressed grudges between each other began to show so prevalently. One begins to demean vaccine of manufacturing source, whilst others begin to hoard the vaccines with intent to deprive other countries in accessing these vaccines in time.
Capitalistic behavior overwhelms them, at time where leaders around the world should have come forward and energize the recovery process. The World Health Organization (WHO) was totally stripped down to just become a voice-box, powerless to manage the reality as it has played. You can’t blame them, after all, they are a funded organization and easily can be stripped to bare-bottom. Their COVAX vaccine initiative looked like stirring up a Pandora box.
This is the reality of this world. The true color of leadership, countries and their actual intents. The Covid-19 pandemic showed that every country is on its own, unless and when you are an alliance. Even with such buttering friendships, you can rest be assured, you are kept waiting, but given somewhat priority in their list.
It’s an irony, when the same manufacturer and brand-name of the released product for vaccination can be deprived of commonality. If the product is manufactured in the UK, and not from the EU, the same product is considered an outcast.
As it is today, if you are vaccinated with Sinovac, it is valid within your local country, unless and when you are possibly travelling to other countries where Sinovac is also being used. Otherwise, it’s a battle of recognition between Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson. Not forgetting, other players like Gamelaye Institute/Russia, Novavax and CureVac.
It looks like a game of charade between the manufacturers, how well they are politically connected and which country they belong to. Admirably, Cuba managed to excel with their usual independence by developing and manufacturing vaccines on their own.
This had me thinking that smaller countries and their political leaders should put more time to invest in local based pharmaceutical companies. Not only they should be developing medical products to sustain local demands, but also research and developments that will provide the ability to sudden signs of a possible pandemics. Honestly, if Cuba could do it, I am sure other countries have the potential to do so.
I care less of the political inclination in any country. It does not matter to me if they are a democratic, autocratic, socialist or communist. It is like religion, being a remaining ideology of political charade. What is duly important is that their citizens live in peace and harmony, able to sustain daily living without needing to beg for food and water, find progressiveness where possible and seek to develop the nation as one.
Thirty years ago, China was still in its challenging path where most citizens find eating out being a luxury. Today, their grit and determination showed them to be a leading contender. Their growth is now challenging the existing predecessors of first world countries, showing that they too have the capability to lead themselves and not by colonialist interference to dictate terms and living norms.
I probably be having a few more years to stay around and continuously learn my surroundings. I hope to go back to my origin soon, but by the looks of it, I am still destined to carry on my tasks and observations here for the moment. I have learned that the color of truth that exist amongst humans is one that remains selfish and self-centered. It has never changed from the early days of their existence, but I am sure, these behaviors have their continuous consequences.
There will be changes to come, in the very near future. It will take a greater influence to make this happen. It is highly due anyhow. Until then, the serenity of this planet as it once existed, will remain continuously disturbed as it is now.
It is time to reset planet Earth. Its sanity is greater than greed.
