Project Yourself

Have you ever wondered if it was possible to achieve success all by yourself?

Athletes may become world champion in their respective field out of their own achievements, right? They trained hard, ate proper food to give them a consistent energy boost, stayed disciplined to their daily routine for ten years from the day they realized that they wanted the gold medal in the Olympics. Did they actually do all that by themselves?

No. They were part of an equation as the final frontier, if it can be described as such, but throughout their journey they received encouragements from friends, families, coaches, fans and institutions that believed they had the potential to do so. Why? They reflected themselves with such Positive Attitude, that gave them unwavering determination to achieve their success. You need to find that within you.

Whenever I have participants in a training session, I get to study their profile quickly with some preliminary question and answer session. You can identify them easily. Some with their strong personalities, self-drive and determination whilst others remain on the contrary. Do I decide to ignore the latter? No, I do not. I will use the alpha personality participants in the room to hype up the weak and make them stronger.

Observant teachers in school use similar method when they have a large group of students in their classroom. Someone with identical skills is made the leader of the pack. They are to help the rest to gain confidence, believe in themselves and also to be able to lead in very near future. You have heard, ‘lead by example’, right? At some point in the classroom, the teacher then assigns students who were not prowess initially to come forward and show what they have learnt. That is how you coach someone. Let them know, through determination, they will achieve success.

How will you be able to project yourself? With Positive Attitude, of course. You will identify your weakness. You have to be honest to yourself. You will hone skills needed, but not overwhelm yourself with the unsettling knowledge that you cannot get a grasp of. As I have said in my blog, Impossible = I’m Possible, you will need to break down into smaller segments so that you can learn to manage time, effort and skills. You of course need to be confident.

Do not look at yourself any lesser than anyone else, neither you build arrogance in return. Never be arrogant. The price you pay is your downfall.

Smile. It is worth a million miles. Smile to yourself, time to time. You can do that when you see yourself in a mirror, at the walkway on a reflective building glass, or just someone you come across as you approaching the queue in a mall. Don’t worry if they may not smile in return; you are not being crazy. You are energizing yourself with good mental attitude, you are infecting others with your Positive Attitude. You are projecting yourself to the world!

Standing out is a good thing, if you remain humble. You are just confident of who you are.
