HOPE – Is It Really True?

What is hope? Is it something you believe, to exist somewhere out there? Hope is said to be positive notion of something that you wish to happen and continuously reinforcing in your mind. When hope depletes, so does the drive in a person to sustain their continuity in accomplishing their initial intent.

Let’s take a scenario. You applied for a job and when asked, you will possibly say, “ I hope by next week I will get a call for an interview ”. Of course, hope carries uncertainty, if what you are wishing for it to happen or not. You may or may not be ready to confront the negative outcome, which is a rejection letter.

However, if you had attempted the ‘Law of Averages‘, then you will probably be writing to many potential employers and hope one of them will offer you a job opportunity. You are happy with the results when you receive an offer letter, as you have attempted with hope that any one of the number of applications you sent out will receive a positive outcome.

 People who achieve higher rate of success are embedded with ‘You Can Attitude’, which also means ‘I Can Do It’. My acronym to HOPE is Higher-Order-Positive-Enthusiasm©.

You need to be enthusiastic in what you wish to partake. It gives you a strong sense of energy with excitement and great interest to what you are going to do. Your Positive Attitude in your approach to what you want to do, invokes a high level of thoughts within you. You have framed a clear outcome from the beginning, visualized your path and when you take your steps forward, you know what you want to do during the whole process. That is the total outcome of your hope.

The above ‘Hope to Success Diagram’ was part of a training program that I conduct. These are the common factors I have seen in any individual, whether the have it all, choose a specific path or progress with the attempts of short cuts. Let’s take a look of some of the visible paths.

Failure>Faith>Success
You had your failures. Now, you put your faith in someone, which means that you trust that someone with total confidence. For some people, it may be their religious or spiritual beliefs. For others, they look to someone who had prior experience and willing to coach you to achieve your success.  

Failure>Enthusiasm>Success
You had your failures. You have a particular goal that you want to achieve. You feel enthusiastic about it. However, you are not sure how to reach the success path as you do not have the same level of confidence, although you are enthusiastic. So, what do you do here?

Failure>Hope>Success
You had your failures. You hope that in the next attempt, you will succeed. However, prior to starting, you begin to doubt yourself. Your past failures hampers your confidence. You are thinking, ” How sure am I that this time around, I will succeed? “.  

If you look at the ‘Hope to Success Diagram’ carefully, all of these words that I have highlighted, are intertwined. It is like the methods you use in uncertainty calculation, in order to get the resultant. Your samples and tests conducted, when analyzed, in an equitable manner, will provide you with a clearer understanding of the expected outcome.

Are you feeling gibberish now, wondering what does the uncertainty calculation relate with your hope? Let me explain it in a simpler manner. You plan to execute a goal. You will take a few attempts to overcome the issues you have been confronted. You know that your goal will provide you an expected outcome. However, you are unsure how well the outcome is going to be, unless and when you have made a few accountable attempts. You are now able to analyze and determine, if the paths you have planned out for your goal are effective enough.

When you place an accountable hope to succeed, your attempts will be directed to a more positive outcome in the end. The tolerances that you have placed throughout your journey will be well tightened whilst giving leeway where needed. You will be able to take the necessary steps to find out your corrective procedures, whilst not being worrying about it as much.

Your strength is to manage your time effectively and to bring the outcome your goal successfully. If you are hoping to accomplish anything, remember the journey that you will need to take. Don’t just keep hoping without making an effort.

The efforts placed from your hope brings forth achievements. The timeline is your success.
