Enjoy What You Do

Have you come across some people who tells you to slow down or to take a break from what you enjoy doing? For example, if you like painting, for personal enjoyment and also possibly to sell some of your artwork for additional income, what would you do if someone tells you to take a break from painting without reasonable justifications?

The person, who may come as a friend, a family member or a colleague, says that you are spending too much time painting instead of doing anything else, like going out and clubbing with them. Are you someone who does not enjoy loud music, people bumping around in a dark and dingy place? Do you enjoy getting bummed with alcohol and feeling nauseous the next day? Are you someone passive in behavior and making unclear decisions on your personal welfare?

Will you describe yourself as someone who is a grump, unfriendly or not sporting, being reclusive or someone who wish to spend time with friends of similar interest to your passion? Are you someone who wish to have an intellectual conversation or sit at a table with people who keeps on talking about useless politics, badmouthing others, uncalled for vulgarities, disrespectful and most of all, an emulsion of negativities? You have the answer! Now, let’s go about reviewing the following statement.

When nothing more is in control of me,

to where I have no more control of myself,

I realize that I need no control.

Do you understand what this means? If you do have a focal point, an interest, the ability to drive you to your motivation from within, then your self-realization is awakening itself. Do not let anyone dictate you and to do the things they prefer to do, when you are the master of your own destiny. Participate where you can, contribute willingly your skills and experiences, and do it with passion.

I did speak about going out sometimes, to find a nice cozy café. An artisan bakery with lovely cakes that are not sugar coated and restaurants that introduces vegetarian food with a twist excites me. I do this because I enjoy the journey and experience, I have discovered in the process.

Writing motivational blogs, sharing my experiences and knowledge, gives me fulfilment and a purpose.  I will totally ignore anyone who suggest me to do otherwise. If anyone is getting my attention, you have to get me interested first. I would like to know what will my purpose be, with the time I spend with you. The last thing I want to do, is to spend time with someone being constantly negative. I did elaborate on this in my blog, ‘Constantly Negative?‘.

You should take your time, to do things that you enjoy, especially for yourself. Don’t wait and say that you plan to do when you reach your retirement age. Neither your family or friends will be waiting for you, even if you have toiled all your lifetime for every other person’s benefit except for yourself. When you get wrapped with your mixed priorities, from being single to a family person and so forth, you will put away your self-interest in the things you love to do. Do not regret later parts of your life, for not doing what you wanted to do.

Take a spontaneous trip somewhere, go to a pottery or cooking class, hang out watching movies in the local theatre or take a long drive via the coastal roads. You can alternate these short breaks to also take your family out as well.  Just remember that there is no catch-up time available, anytime in the near future. What you can do, act on it without delay, and without procrastination.

It is not what you have failed. It is that you failed to realize what your experience is all about.
