Attitude Is Everything: If You Have The Right Mindset

A very famous author and trainer, Keith Harrell, has written a very inspiring book, ‘Attitude Is Everything‘. He had mentioned 10 life-changing steps to turning attitude into action. This is from his personal and shared experiences, like anyone of us.

He has identified simple and structural methods in 10 chapters of his valuable book. The only issue is that now days, people are not inclined to read a hard copy book and are more inclined to read from their mobile devices whilst driving their cars!

From my personal experience, attitude is everything if you have the right mindset. It is simply a choice indeed. Most people will argue and say, ” I did not have a choice, so I did that “. If you realize and listen to what you have just said, you did make a choice, to which you proceeded to take its course of action.

Having the right attitude takes discipline as well. Some people decide on the spur of the moment, that they wish to make changes that they believe will be helpful to them. However, like boiling water, it simmers down quickly once the heat is switched off. Similarly, these people wean out of their momentum quickly and willfully go back to their normal routine in being complacent.

This is why, you will continuously learn from some of my blogs, a three step process that you implement within yourself. Nothing more, and nothing less.

Progressing with changes in your negative attitude requires you to identify what positive changes you wish to make. Do not say that you wish to make changes, but do not have a planned path for you to follow. Write down a table, comparing your negative attitudes and the positive changes you wish to make. Take the first three significant negative attitudes that require your urgent attention. Then give yourself a timeline of when these changes will be visible and remain significant in your lifetime.

Just like an elastic band, the mind and body have the tendency to quickly fallback to its comfort zone where it was very much loitering before. So, without firm reviews on your personal changes, you cannot have a consistent change implemented successfully.

Speak to someone you know who can give you honest comments on the changes you have made. Ask them if they have noticed any changes within you, probably the way you speak, the attention span during discussions or how you have been more proactive during meetings. Be brave to ask about your faults and hear them with patience, so that you will not be defensive.

It is not the easiest for anyone when you are being told of the negative attitudes you may present to others. Do not be judgemental towards them and appreciate them for their honesty. Be thankful that they are willing to be honest with you for your well-being and positive changes.

Last but not least, trust yourself first. You can implement changes that will bring benefits to your on the long run. You need to commit yourself for your own well-being, mentally and emotionally.

Also, throughout these processes of change you are implementing, learn to exercise consistently and provide the nurturing needed for your body. A healthy and active body brings healthier and refreshed mind. Start afresh and be successful with the changes that you plan to implement within yourself. I wish you all the successes ahead.
