A Different World

I was watching one of my favorite tv program last week. In Bull Season 4, Episode 14 ‘Quid Pro Quo‘, Dr. Samir Shadid was found not guilty on charges of bribing his way into college, brought onto him by the Manhattan U.S attorney. Toward the ending, he said to Bull’s newborn baby, “ The world is different today. The world is a better today. You are in it ! ”.

Yes, you are in it. That is how you see things around you, positively. Visualize and keep the image constantly in your mind. It is like playing with Lego. You assemble the bricks piece by piece, from a box full of them and to construct something you have imagined in your mind. Now, you might not find some of the bricks needed. You go to the toy store, look for optional assembly parts and re-image in your mind, to see how these pieces will fit in your primary visual design.

You buy the necessary add-on parts, assembly them, perhaps even have minor modifications done to your original design. In fact, you have improvised it since there are newer parts available now, that you can add on motors, belts, gears and shafts. All in all, you have made your visual design crafted in your mind, a reality.

Similar are the methods, you take in your life. Two decades ago, I had visualized my office in a multi-storey building, that I use to drive pass on the highway. It was on the way back home. I pointed out to the building and said, “ that’s where my new office is going to be ”. You know what, I did end up leasing the office space, six floors up, had my table near the main glass window, giving me a complete view of the surrounding areas. That is the power of visualization! I was able to make the best of it, energizing me continuously to achieve my planned goals for the company, my colleagues and myself.

No doubt, it was a challenging, wonderful and extensive journey of learning experiences in business management, metrology, consultancy, commissioning and training services. These multi-tasking processes also was derived from my pre-existing work experiences in various other industries. I met people worldwide, experienced various cultures and made a good small number of valuable friends, who had a high degree of passion in what they do. They were equally driven by very strong self-motivation and Positive Attitude.  I learned from them all, every little advise that was given to me from their personal experiences.

Obviously, I had my flaws. I still do. Even as I am writing this blog, I keep asking myself, what else can I do to improvise myself and the work I have done? What can I do to help others in return from my gathered and learnt experiences? How can I tell someone, reading a book, at least one book a week will help you become a better person? I ask and ponder all these and more, on a daily basis. I then take notes on what’s needed, plan and execute them. I am very much a determined person.

I am retired from day-to-day job. I am having more time now, so I am making use of it to continue my progressive goals. I have been having sleep deprivation for many years that I lost count on this. Now that I am able to give myself more time to rest, my sleep seems to have improved much better, although I still do wake up within three hours.

I do not wish to take anything for granted. I have worked long and hard, faced many challenges in life to which I can tell you many stories to keep you alive, if we were marooned on an island whilst planning how to help rescuers locate us.

I still say, what I have learned and experienced so far, is just a process, a speckle of dust to which helps me become a better person, relinquishing my existing flaws that I have taken into account throughout this journey and value my given time to live.

It is indeed a different world, from where I stand and see. It is all beautiful and nurturing.
