A recent conversation I had, triggered this thought. A remark was made, that the country we live in, has gone to the dogs. Leaders feel that they are not wrong in what they are doing, when in fact so many mistakes are being done.
The politics and level of corruption is overwhelming, whilst the people are suffering tremendously. I told the person, that I disagree. Why? I explained, that politics are the same in rhythm in any country, whether in well developed nations, first world or third world countries. If the country has been as bad as described, we would not have been earning a living throughout our working lifetime, and achieving success on our efforts.
We do have challenges, but overcoming them, makes us who we are. Every person in my home country, have the opportunity, to succeed without extreme discrimination. I know that for a fact, as it also has been my personal experience. Although the grass looks greener the other side, until and when, you have moved to another country and experience the challenges within that locality, you will not have the actual reflection of the localized reality.
Politics, in any enterprise, is a hybrid of people centric

movements and generally, blind loyalty.
It always starts with great intent, especially with the politicking parties. Each and every one party will have reasons to fight, championing their cause, showing great sincerity. Once they are in place of power, their skin sheds and reality take place. Little Napoleons, who seems to channel Julius Caesar in following years to come, caused by greed, corruption and decentralization of the original efforts. They fall into the same pitfall, waiting fearfully, knowing that there is going to be another ringleader, with likeness of Marcus Brutus, and a group of followers, who will conduct the next downfall. Unfortunately, this is a vicious cycle, without fear or favor; the act remains constant.
Leadership on the other hand, shows participation to succeed. In any country, it is a cumulative effort of the citizens and leaders. The sense of nationalism and pride in having a harmonious platform, for everyone to share and distribute their earned wealth, reflects the common good. This cumulative effort is well practiced in some countries. No one plays the drum, to highlight their race, religion or ethnicity, but cumulatively stand hand in hand, as a citizen of the nation, for the well-being of others.
If something needs to be said, this indeed, has been an exemplary nature of the country that I live in, ‘the oneness above others’. It is a boiling pot of culture, quick to assimilate, instead of discrimination. We can tease each other, knowing that even if there is a social stigma at some instances, we overcome through common sense, food and hospitality. This nation, stands true to the saying, the way to reach someone’s heart, is through their stomach.
If we believe that what we think is right,

there will be less chance for us to change our mind.
We can be adamant. In fact, sometimes, is an understatement. We are fixated to the original thought, that we feel so strongly about. A glimpse of light is not possible through such tight gaps within the mind. In some people, being high achievers, as they are known, provides greater resistance to change. They push their agendas through, even if any opinion is given for constructive changes. Common justification for them is that, they had not made any mistakes before, thus, they do not foresee any being done in future too. Now, let me ask you, ” Is this person being adamant, ignorant or just plain arrogant? “.
Some leaders will explain to you that too many cooks spoil the soup. Here is the trick. You have heard about asking The Right Questions?
When you are leading a team of people, wanting objectively to resolve a pertaining issue, you will bring forward a set of questions for them to answer. These sets of questions, in being a leader, will be churned out from your constructive approach to resolve the root cause of the problem, like in many cases. So, when you ask these set of questions, you can quickly secure the mind of your audience, to which their answers can possibly lead to additional feedbacks. These feedbacks will also mean that, they can relate better to your goals in approaching to resolve the issues.
Some people call their meeting as ‘Brainstorming’. If you have the time, unplanned agenda and indefinite recurrence to get an outcome to a resolution, objective or new strategies, please go ahead. Storm the cumulative brains around your round table. However, if you want to harness an outcome within a specific period of time, giving out a clear pre-objective of your goals for the brainstorming, then you can construct stages of directional path to be taken, and eliminate the apparent excess.
Let me reflect on this further, for you to understand. You got a cabinet full of 25 different dry spices. You rummaged your refrigerator, thinking of cooking up a pot of soup to go along with your sourdough bread. Now, are you going to cut all the vegetables you find in the refrigerator, put them in the pot with onions and garlic, and throw in a bit of all the 25 spices? Or are you going to visualize how the soup is going to be prepared initially?
If you do spontaneous cooking, you will capture an image in your mind, expecting a flavor pallet. You will then decide to cut a few vegetables, and taking out a few spices to mix into the soup. As the vegetable starts cooking in the pot, the time limit provides you to start realizing the aroma and adding one spice after the other, tasting as you go on, as your mind initially conceived. So, keeping an open mind, in your approach, at any level of challenge, allows you to derive an outcome. Leadership is the same.
One nature of leadership I have seen, is the ability to express and share their passion willfully. They are good orator. They energize their passion so extensively that the participants can absorb and project the image within their thoughts. This, sometimes, is an inherent talent, and for some, it is something that they can learn to be.
Lead by example. If you can do it, anyone can also learn to do it.
